Elizaveta : Born in New York and raised in Russia, self-described "opera pop" artist Elizaveta Igorevna Khripounova graduated with honors from the University of Southern California. The pianist, singer/songwriter, and opera singer applied her classical training in piano and voice to her debut EPs, Breakfast with Chopin and Like Water. Melding her love of the classical world with a passion for Nina Simone, Adele, and Queen, the newly minted Elizaveta eventually inked a deal with Universal Republic Records, resulting in a self-titled EP in 2011 and a full-length studio debut, the Greg Wells-produced Beatrix Runs, in 2012.
Vinyl Stone: Take the melodies of the great pop songs, the intelligence of a great jazz solo, the groove of the JB's, the smoothness of the best R&B, the truth of the old school and you have (the) Vinyl Stone. Rene Breton: Rene Breton combines surrealist imagery with lush melodic harmony. Their single "Botswana" was featured as KCRW's song of the day on Morning Becomes Eclectic, from their album Asleep in Green (March 2011): a book of twelve surrealist short stories released in conjunction with the music. They've been compared to The Smiths, Pink Floyd, and Peter Gabriel. They currently live in Los Angeles. http://www.myspace.com/renebretonmusic
